As part of HERA, I’m excited to bring my understanding of a wide cross-section of New Zealand fabrication companies and in-depth knowledge of welding applications to ensure we continue to meet the needs of the heavy engineering industry in Aotearoa.

Did you know…

I joined the HERA whānau in 2024!

I’m based in sunny Whakatū, A.K.A Nelson

I began my career in the metals industry as an apprentice in the 1970s, a time where almost everything was welded by Manual Metal Arc.

Fast forward to today, and I have recently been introduced to hand-held LASER welding – showcasing the evolution of welding technology which has continued to move forward over my career and continuously challenged me to upskill and grow alongside it.

During this time, I’ve gained an enhanced understanding of all common processes for joining and manipulating a wide range of materials. My career has spanned various sectors, including in general, marine, structural, food grade, aerospace and petrochemical industries. I have also had the opportunity to work with companies from SMEs to multinational organisations throughout Aotearoa New Zealand, applying a wide range of hands-on, training, and solution-finding skills.

Around 16 years ago, I began my involvement with HERA while working with a global gas/welding equipment supply company, serving as an industry representative on the HERA Welding Panel.  I have also been a Board member of the HERA ANB (Training) Board since its inception.

I’m proud to be utilising my training and problem-solving skills to help develop the capabilities of our members so they become more resilient in an ever-growing competitive market.
