HERA House is where heavy engineering lives. Based in Manukau, we bring innovators together to learn about, experience and use the latest in manufacturing, fabrication and construction.
Our Fab4.0Lab is Aotearoa New Zealandโs Centre of Excellence for fabrication. Our planned Innovation Centre will be home to the Tabs4.0Lab, a national hub for structural health monitoring, along with the country’s leading facility for flexible steel-based manufacturing.
Together, these cutting edge facilities help us innovate within the heavy engineering industry by advancing research, training, demonstration and prototyping capability.

Fabrication lab
The Fab4.0Lab is our hands-on training hub, where pakihi (businesses) can dive into cutting-edge fabrication technology and gain support for conducting research into structural weld design, optimisation, and use of 3D scanned profiles.
Monitoring lab
The Tab4.0Lab will open the door to up-to-the-minute technology for monitoring building performance over time. With these advanced assessment tools, data-driven decisions can be made to create safer and more efficient buildings for Aotearoa.
Innovation lab
The IndustryX.O Centre will be an interactive space designed to showcase new technologies, foster collaborative innovation, and provide cutting-edge training. It will be the powerhouse at the heart of HERA.
