Steel import levy tonnages year-to-date: July 2024

Trend analysis graph, July 2024

The steel import tonnages have been inconsistent, reflective of the anticipated fluctuations in the construction sector over the next 6-9 months. We noted a significant dip in June, which was the lowest in 10 years, however July looked more promising. We are hopeful that more projects will be approved and announced in the next quarter, so our members have greater certainty. HERA is committed to continually delivering against our agreed research and industry support program for the year and anticipates a deficit for the year’s operations, which will be supported by built-up reserves.
