Innovation READY – day 1 of a 5 day series
June 29, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Welcome to the start of your innovation transformation!
In today’s global market – successful businesses not only respond to their current customer or organisational needs, but also anticipate future trends to develop ideas, products, services or tools to meet future demand rapidly and effectively.
Innovation READY is about equipping prospective innovation managers with the theory to prepare themselves and their businesses for implementing an innovation process – and today is the beginning of that journey.
Innovation READY: Module 1 – Environment for innovation
Today’s session is the first of five to be delivered over five months. You’ll come away with a deeper understanding of what a Lean Startup innovation culture requires. Identifying challenges you’ll have to overcome to implement this, along with a plan to do so. You’ll also gain the leadership capabilities needed to lead change and create alignment and buy-in within your organisation, and the communication skills to create and foster this change. Once done, you’ll develop the courage and ability to have tough and honest conversations. Get READY to become the ‘game changer’ for your company’s commercial success.

Adrian Packer | IMS Projects Director
I established IMS Projects in the UK in 2004 and quickly gained a reputation for a collaborative and outcome focused approach that delivers business success through people. Today, it is a respected provider of high-quality, innovative programmes and services that help Kiwi companies and their employees achieve world class levels of operational performance. Our services include strategy and planning, operational excellence, innovation and new product development.
I’ve worked in a wide variety of sectors including manufacturing, food and beverage, oil and gas, utilities, health local and central government and retail. Companies I’ve worked with include Argus Heating, Goodman Fielder, Southern Cross Engineering and Allied Concrete.
I’m also one of only a handful of coaches and trainers in the world certified as a Master NLP Practitioner, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and certified coach. I hold an MBA from Cranfield School of Management in the UK.
Pia Williams | 6th Sense Innovation Director
With over 20 year’ experience I’ve worked in several countries and industries. Rising through the business world, I’ve worked for organisations such as Austrade (in South Korea), Unilever, Hasbro, and ING Direct where I managed their savings portfolio. In 2005 I joined ?What if! The Innovation Company as an Inventor and was introduced to design thinking methodology. Creating 6th Sense Innovation three years later.
Recently I’ve worked on challenges ranging from beverage innovation strategies and financial services projects to residential roofing innovation and de-contamination in auto-assembly plants; shopper marketing strategies across Europe and Asia, designing and implementing a marketing planning process for a large multinational; and designing best practice complaints-handling operating models.
In my spare time, I’m a guest lecturer for Sydney University Faculty of Economics and Business.
Engagement
“Each time we have uncovered gaps or reached decision points Adrian has been able to relate this to theory and move us forward. This has provided reassurance to the team and confidence in IMS. The team are enthused and are keen to try different things.”
David Selway, Managing Director, Argus Heating Limited
“IMS have helped us step back from the detail to see the potential of an effective NPD process. We are developing our ability to think creatively, take the best ideas forward, quickly turn concepts into products that customers want and generate sales.”
Progress
“Adrian from IMS has helped us see the gaps in our work and provided facilitation, training and tools to fill them. He has also given us time to become comfortable with the ideas.”
Impact
“We have started doing things differently and benefited from the change. Gaining agreement between the sales and design areas is a big step forward.”
“We are now able to state new product launch dates and bring their cash flows into our annual budget.”
All thanks to IMS
