The HERA Annual General Meeting took place as part of last month’s Metals Week and the members of the 2015/16 HERA Executive were confirmed.
The terms of elected members Peter Hutton, Sean Gledhill, David Moore, and John Frear ended with the AGM. Peter Hutton, David Moore and John Frear were re-nominated and willing to stand again. Additional nominations were for Bruce Bonner from IMG, and Pragya Sharma from ABS and as there were more nominations than seats, elections took place.
Following the closing of the nominations to the Executive, resignations were also received from Terry Duff and Bernard Hill. Therefore, the Executive consists now of re-elected members Peter Hutton, David Moore and John Frear and newly-elected members Bruce Bonner and Pragya Sharma.
The other elected representatives of the HERA membership are Mike Lehan, Paul Bryant and Thomas Neitzert. Noel Davies was reconfirmed on the Executive ex-officio as the Chairman of the Heavy Engineering Research & Educational Foundation (HEERF).
Simon Ward was re-confirmed as the representative of the NZ Manufacturers and Exporters Association (NZMEA). Dr Troy Coyle was re-confirmed as the nominated representative of the President of NZ Steel, and Alistair Fussell was re-confirmed as the co-opted representative of SCNZ.
The remaining vacancy was filled by HERA Executive appointment following the AGM by special vote. This was for Craig Stevenson, the Aurecon Technical Director Building filling specifically the gap for representation of consulting engineering members. A warm welcome goes to the new members on the HERA Executive: Bruce Bonner, Craig Stevenson and Pragya Sharma (below respectively).
It is encouraging to see the first female member elected to the HERA Executive, Pragya Sharma, voted in by you, the HERA members. Perhaps her exposure to the membership in her former role with HERA’s AGGAT team assisted in the process, but most of all it must have been Pragya’s proven professional credentials. She will no doubt complement the research leadership of the other female representative on the Executive, NZ Steel’s Dr Troy Coyle.
