Dr. Haiam Abbas graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Baghdad and went on to complete her Master of Engineering and a PhD in Chemical & Materials Engineering from the University of Auckland.
She is also a member of the Society of Chemical Engineers in New Zealand.
Haiam brings with her a strong background in heat transfer and computational fluid dynamics modelling having worked at the University of Auckland in various research roles and at the Light Metals Research Centre as CFD Research Engineer. Her prior research interests focused on heat recovery and emissions reduction in aluminum smelting cells and thermal analysis of phase change materials.
Haiam joins the Industry Development division of HERA as Research Engineer working on Heat Transfer Research aims co-operating closely with the research aim leader Prof Farid from Auckland University. HERA welcomes Haiam as part of the AGGAT team increasing HERA’s research capability.
