Weathering steel for engineers – a sustainable solution to a better built environment | On-demand video
With the increased use of weathering steel and the advantages of weathering steel to sustainable built environment, the HERA is pleased to present two webinars to share the latest information on the design, fabrication, sustainability, corrosion performance, construction, in-service performance, and maintenance of the weathering steel.
Key Aspects to be covered:
- Material Selection and Mechanical Properties & Design with weathering steel members
- Bolted connections,
- Weathering steel sustainability
- Corrosion behavior of weathering steel
- Sustainability
- Welding and Fatigue
- Fabrication quality management
- Structural Detailing – drainage, water runoff
- Surface Appearance and in-service inspection
And much more……
This 100 minute on-demand video is aimed at:
Engineers who need to know about the latest design and detailing developments.
Fabricators who need to learn the latest fabrication and construction information.
Government Authorities keen to learn how weathering steel can provide the lowest whole of life cost option, whilst meeting the required design life and reducing health and safety risks.
Raed El Sarraf | Technical Principal – Materials & Corrosion, WSP NZ
Raed has extensive experience, in corrosion engineering and asset integrity management of structural steel (and other metallic) structures. This includes durability assessments, specifying protective coatings systems and detailing the correct use of corrosion resistant materials, such as weathering and stainless steels. He has also been involved in the publication of a number of articles, papers, and guidance documents in Australasia.
Dr. Michail Karpenko | HERA GM Welding Centre
Michail holds a Mechanical & Welding Engineering degree and is an International Welding Engineer with experience in various research and industry projects in the field of welding technology in Germany and New Zealand. His research and professional interest cuts across a broad spectrum of design, analysis, and manufacturing. In particular, the design of welded joints for seismic and high cyclic fatigue applications, weldability, and corrosion performance of materials, quality control and smart manufacturing 4.0.
Dr. Kawa Andisheh | HERA Manager Structural Systems
Kawa, who holds a PhD from the University of Canterbury is a structural engineer with over 17 years’ consulting and research experience providing professional services to clients across New Zealand, Europe and Asia. His on-going areas of focus at HERA include steel and steel-concrete composite structures in general, and low damage seismic solution, corroded structures, structural fire, sustainability, and structural health monitoring in particular. Kawa is a multi-Committee Member (AS/NZS) of Standards Australia.
