Weathering steel (CORTEN) – sustainable solution for building and artwork applications | On-demand video
With the increased use of weathering steel and the advantages of weathering steel to sustainable built environment, HERA is pleased to present this webinar to share the latest information on the design, weldability, sustainability, corrosion performance, typical architectural details, in-service performance, and NZ compliance requirement of the weathering steel for building and non- skeleton applications.
Key Aspects to be covered:
- Weathering steel sustainability
- Manufacturing and weathering
- Dual phase weathering steel
- Microstructure
- Time-dependent tensile strength
- Corrosion behavior of weathering steel
- Sustainability advantages of Weathering steel
- NZ compliance requirement
- Typical architectural details
And much more……
This 90 minute on-demand video is aimed at:
Engineers who need to know about the latest design and detailing developments for building and structural applications.
Architects who need to know about the latest design and detailing developments of weathering steel for buildings and architectural applications.
Artists who need to know about the latest developments and characteristics of weathering steel for artworks and non-skeleton applications.
Fabricators who need to learn the latest fabrication and construction information.
Government Authorities keen to learn how weathering steel can provide the lowest whole of life cost option, whilst meeting the required design life and reducing health and safety risks.
Dr. Krishanu Roy | Lecturer, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering – UoA
Over the last 5 years, Dr Roy’s research has continued to revolve around steel structures, covering a wide range of topics, such as steel and aluminium roofing and cladding, stainless steel, corroded steel members, durability of cold-formed steel members, modular construction, weathered steel, cold-formed steel connections, cross-section optimization, weathertightness of metal claddings and design methodologies. His current research interests are fire performance of steel structures, application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for the structural prediction of steel members, sustainability and life cycle analysis of structures.
Dr. Kawa Andisheh | HERA Manager Structural Systems
Kawa, who holds a PhD from the University of Canterbury is a structural engineer with over 17 years’ consulting and research experience providing professional services to clients across New Zealand, Europe and Asia. His on-going areas of focus at HERA include steel and steel-concrete composite structures in general, and low damage seismic solution, corroded structures, structural fire, sustainability, and structural health monitoring in particular. Kawa is a multi-Committee Member (AS/NZS) of Standards Australia.
