Intern Researcher Hussein Salman joins us from the University of Auckland, where he has just finished his third year in his Bachelor of Engineering Mechatronic studies.
With us over the next month, he’ll be working on the design, mechanical drawings and sensor placement for a hermetic generator casing under the supervision of our Research Engineer Dr. Lei Chen and industry expertise of member Cambrian Engineering.
This work will be a critical step towards developing our understanding of generator design, and positioning our AGGAT research program as a viable contributor to the growth of New Zealand’s economy.
It also provides a much needed platform for students such as Hussein to gain exposure to the heavy engineering and energy sectors as potential career paths – something that our organisation feels very strongly about and advocates for under our HEERF Foundation.
“This internship means a lot to me, as it allows me to get my foot in the door of the engineering industry,” Hussein said.
“I hope to gain valuable experience, knowledge and network connections as I look to achieve my future aspiration to help design new innovative technologies that one day will benefit the world.”
We certainly look forward to seeing the contribution Hussein will bring to HERA and our turbine generator R&D project – and we hope you’ll join us in welcoming him to the team!
Are you a member who can contribute to this short term project?
We’re on the lookout for any members who might be interested in helping Hussein and his work by providing some industry know-how on generators, or even getting involved and contributing to our AGGAT program.
If this sounds like you, please contact Manager Industry Development Dr Boaz Habib.
