You’ll have seen lately that our Welding Centre has a lot of amazing projects on it’s horizon over the next three years. That’s why we’re excited to welcome Volkan Yakut to our team to help us deliver them!
Volkan brings over 15 years’ global experience to the table as a Mechanical Engineer and International Welding Engineer. He’s had exposure to a wide range of fields, from lecturing at universities to holding various management positions in quality and production departments.
He has also been involved in a number of large scale projects such as the construction of power & cement plants and shipyard & ship building in Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Excitingly, he’s also worked with the defence industry – which is a space that our Welding team has been exploring to assist our membership to fill their future pipeline.
Previous to coming to HERA, Yakut was a Quality Assurance Engineer at Pacific steel. This was a natural progression as he’d previously been a Quality Unit Manager in a main battle tank production project for the Turkish Army for seven years.
Throughout his career, his primary focus has been in the field of welding technologies and non-destructive testing. Specialising in Ultrasonic Testing to Level 3 certification, as well as Radiographic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Penetration Testing and Visual Testing to Level 2. It’s these base skills that will be hugely beneficial to our members.
Yakut saying, “I’ve always been on the lookout for a position where I could share my experience with the industry while also broadening my technical knowledge in a scientific environment.”
“I feel this opportunity fits perfectly with my skill set and aligns with how I am looking to grow my career, and I’m looking forward to meeting with HERA’s members to see how I can provide technical support to them,” he said.
“I’m really eager to combine my expertise and dedicated work ethic to create better solutions for the NZ metals industry.”
