Matthew Kidson
Managing Director, Kernohan Engineering
I’m a civil engineer with over 20 years’ experience in general engineering and commercial construction within the steel industry.
Representing the Kidson family’s ownership of Kernohan Engineering and Nayland Scaffolding, I work with our management teams to drive business development and governance capacity – with both our businesses reliant on the metals industry for both function and prosperity.
Having worked in marine, hydro, minerals, oil and gas, and civil infrastructure projects, I’m excited to use steel for our expanding range of seismically rated stillage frames and engineered safety products – it’s a fantastic material for demanding environments.
I recognise taking intelligent risk to remain competitive in what has become a global market is key, and I’m excited by the challenge of getting marine farming into the open ocean as our inshore space options diminish – I believe steel has a key role to play in this transition for the aquaculture industry.
I’m proud to represent the metal industry because it’s such a key element of so much of the built and engineered environment in both versatility and dependability.
I’m energised by the possibilities for this sector.
