When I was little I was hell bent on being a garden fairy, mixing potions with flowers and leaves every chance I got.
Today, Iโm mixing potions with words – drive marketing and communications at HERA, where I translate engineering concepts into clear and relatable kลrero (conversations) that showcases the value of heavy engineering, and our members and key stakeholders to Aotearoa. Since joining, Iโve helped shape a digital-first approach – revitalising our brand, building a strong and engaged community of metal minds and delving into new ways of connecting. My work alongside the management team ensures weโre in tune with our membersโ needs, helping them lead the charge in Industry 4.0, innovation, and sustainability.
A highlight of my role is leading our mฤtauranga Mฤori mahi which seeks to find the intersection between heavy engineering and the unique knowledge Mฤori bring to the world of engineering. This is so rewarding and exciting as we work to create a future focused on intergenerational wellbeing.
When Iโm not at mahi, Iโm a proud mฤmฤ to my son Rฤkau and a garden warrior. In fact โ I succeeded in making my garden fairy dreams come true! Embracing my skills in rongoฤ Mฤori (traditional Mฤori healing using native plants) as part of my passion project MindKai to help holistic health and mental wellbeing.
Looking to the future, Iโm hopeful for a world safe and thriving for my little boy and his tamaraki to live in. I wouldnโt mind wining the lotto sometime in amongst that eitherโฆ
