When I was little I was hell bent on being a garden fairy, mixing potions with flowers and leaves every chance I got.
Today, I’m mixing potions with words – drive marketing and communications at HERA, where I translate engineering concepts into clear and relatable kōrero (conversations) that showcases the value of heavy engineering, and our members and key stakeholders to Aotearoa. Since joining, I’ve helped shape a digital-first approach – revitalising our brand, building a strong and engaged community of metal minds and delving into new ways of connecting. My work alongside the management team ensures we’re in tune with our members’ needs, helping them lead the charge in Industry 4.0, innovation, and sustainability.
A highlight of my role is leading our mātauranga Māori mahi which seeks to find the intersection between heavy engineering and the unique knowledge Māori bring to the world of engineering. This is so rewarding and exciting as we work to create a future focused on intergenerational wellbeing.
When I’m not at mahi, I’m a proud māmā to my son Rākau and a garden warrior. In fact – I succeeded in making my garden fairy dreams come true! Embracing my skills in rongoā Māori (traditional Māori healing using native plants) as part of my passion project MindKai to help holistic health and mental wellbeing.
Looking to the future, I’m hopeful for a world safe and thriving for my little boy and his tamaraki to live in. I wouldn’t mind wining the lotto sometime in amongst that either…
