emerging technologies – project lead
University of Auckland
Professor Computer Science
My expertise spans construction informatics, data modeling, Building Information Modelling (BIM), code compliance checking, augmented and virtual reality in construction, and human-computer interaction.
Iโm based in Tฤmaki Makaurau, Auckland
I have dedicated over 30 years to applying computer science research within the architecture, engineering, and construction domains.
Before returning to New Zealand in 2000, I spent five years in the UK developing Construction IT initiatives at the Building Research Establishment, where I worked on creating National and European-wide Internet-based information gateways.
Here in New Zealand, Iโve been actively involved with the national BIM Acceleration Committee, coordinate the CIB W78 working group on IT in Construction, and serve as Editor-in-Chief of the IT in Construction international journal.
My expertise spans construction informatics, data modeling, Building Information Modelling (BIM), code compliance checking, augmented and virtual reality in construction, and human-computer interaction.
This Wฤnanga was an opportunity for the research team to get together with the Co-Chairs of the IAG.
In the emerging technologies theme we’re investigating and developing the underlying technologies supporting the research programs.
Just recently we had our kick-off meeting with the Construction 4.0 team at HERA House – joined by many of our team.
HERA has been successful in the 2022 round of funding for a four-year Construction 4.0 research project.
