PhD Candidate | Research Assistant
My research focuses on transforming New Zealand building codes and standards into a digital format, enabling quality assurance and more efficient compliance checks.
I’m based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland
I report in to Project Lead – Robert Amor
I’m interested in applying NLP to legal texts in the construction domain, particularly in the area of automated compliance checking – which has been an active field of research for over 50 years.
One of the key challenges is that building regulations are typically only available in natural language. I use state-of-the-art deep learning techniques, transfer learning, and integrate domain knowledge to enhance the effectiveness of these approaches. This digital transformation enables more efficient quality assurance and compliance checks.
