Serving on the HERA board gives me a chance to support these positive outcomes, and also give back to an industry that has looked after me through my career.

Did you know…

I’m based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland

I’m Managing Director and major shareholder of Grayson Engineering Limited – a large structural steel fabricator and erector company based in Auckland.

I bring over 30 years’ experience in the manufacturing and construction sector, with half of this time spent in a senior managerial role where I’ve been able to draw from my background as a time served tradesman with tertiary qualifications.

During my career I’ve served on a number of advisory boards, and have been part of the HERA Executive for the past 10 years.

Having worked on a large number of wide and varying construction projects for both the domestic and export market – I’ve successfully secured manufacturing licenses for a number of proprietary construction components including cellular beams and bucking restrained braces used in earthquake prone buildings.

I’ve also been active in procuring machinery on a continuous basis to ensure we’re able to stay at the forefront of technology – helping Grayson to remain competitive in an ever growing global market.

I see the metals industry as a key and integral part of our New Zealand economy and a means to provide skilled and well-paying jobs through opportunity and career path choices that are unrivalled.
