Patrick brings with him an impressive wealth of experience and knowledge in welding and fabrication, with a career that began in the 1970s as an apprentice in the metals industry. His journey has seen him transition from Manual Metal Arc welding to the latest in hand-held LASER welding technologies. His deep understanding of both traditional and cutting-edge methods positions him uniquely to support and advance the capabilities of our industry members.
Over the years, Patrick has gained hands-on experience in a range of sectors including general fabrication, marine, structural, food grade, aerospace, and petrochemical industries. He has collaborated with companies of all sizes, from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to large multinational organisations across Aotearoa New Zealand.
This diverse experience has equipped Patrick with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the metals industry. We believe his ability to apply a wide range of skills in training, problem-solving, and process optimisation will be a tremendous asset to our members as they navigate an increasingly competitive and evolving market.
Patrick’s connection with HERA spans over 16 years. As an industry representative on the HERA Welding Panel and a founding Board member of the HERA ANB (Training) Board, he has played an instrumental role in shaping our training and development initiatives. His in-depth knowledge of welding applications and processes has been invaluable in helping to elevate the standards of practice within the industry.
Now, in his new role at HERA, Patrick will be able to hit the ground running and further support our members by leveraging his extensive background in welding and fabrication. His focus will be on developing tailored training solutions and providing practical support to help businesses strengthen their capabilities and build resilience.
Patrick saying: “I’m looking forward to bringing my understanding of a wide cross section of New Zealand fabrication companies, and in-depth knowledge of welding applications to HERA. It’s all about ensuring we’re meeting the needs of our members and helping the heavy engineering industry to grow”.
Moving forward, we’re confident that Patrick’s expertise will be a catalyst for positive change and development within our industry and more specifically the deliverables we are focused on achieving within our fabrication team.
His practical approach to problem-solving and his commitment to training and mentoring will no doubt inspire the next generation of professionals in the field.
We hope you’ll join us in welcoming Patrick to the HERA whānau – we look forward to seeing the impact of his contributions as we work together to strengthen our heavy engineering industry in Aotearoa.
