My areas of expertise are probabilistic models, complex network analysis, risk & resilience analysis and modelling, agent-based and systems dynamics modelling.





I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Auckland.

My academic journey has included being a Fulbright New Zealand Scholar at UCLA and a visiting scholar in Japan and the USA. My passion for disaster resilience was sparked in 2008, when I worked as a consulting structural engineer on post-tsunami reconstruction in Indonesia.

I lead QuakeCoREโ€™s research on the functional recovery of multi-storey buildings and contribute to the Construction 4.0 research theme on smart construction.

Iโ€™m honoured to have received several awards for my work, including the Fulbright New Zealand Scholar Award, the University of Auckland Faculty of Engineering Top Teachers Award, and the Project Management Institute New Zealand Research Achievement Award.
