Professor Civil and Environmental Engineering
Iโm based in Tฤmaki Makaurau, Auckland
I have specialised in the behaviour and design of structural steel and composite structures since 1983.
From 1983 to 2007, I worked as a Senior Structural Engineer at HERA, where I conducted research in structural steel, composite construction, fire engineering, and durability. During that time, I contributed significantly to the introduction of new and revised standards, developed widely used design guides, and was actively involved in professional development.
Since 2008, I have continued my research and education in this area at the University of Auckland.
As the newest member of our Construction 4.0 project, Parsa is focused on research around AI in circular design.
This is the second edition of HERA Report R4-156, focusing on the seismic design of steel moment resisting frames.
HERA and the HERA Foundation are pleased to share testing has finally begun on the ROBUST building systems project.
Michelle Mahoney and Fraser Longmuir at University of Auckland awarded for heavy engineering related project.
We’re honoured to receive the 2023 NZSEE/SCNZ Best Steel Conference Paper Award for our seismic research.
This report introduces a number of significant updates and a detailed design example to account for recent research.
