Iโ€™m proud to be part of HERAโ€™s excellence in research and development for the metals industry. It allows me to pursue my passion to harmonise national standards to facilitate trade and to increase member productivity through national and international standards, design guides, research outcomes and innovation.

Did you know…

I joined the HERA whฤnau in 2020!

I speak Kurdish and Farsi

My additional roles include:
Ngฤkopa Construction 4.0 Monitoring 4.0 Project Lead

Member of board on NZ National Association of Steel Housing (NASH)

When I was little, I loved solving problems and building things, whether it was toys or handmade things.

As a student, this passion evolved and I became interested in marine structures and fascinated with how to make earthquake-resistant homes. I think all of this led to me pursuing a career in civil engineering!

Today, with a Masterโ€™s and PhD in Civil Engineering, Iโ€™ve built over 22 years of experience across New Zealand, Europe, and Asia, specialising in structural engineering and research.

At HERA, Iโ€™m deeply involved in advancing steel and hybrid structures, low-damage seismic solutions, corrosion and durability, enhancing structural fire performance, seismic design, and structural health monitoring, while also focusing on sustainability and the circular economy.

My work spans from leading innovative research and developing design guides to training engineers and updating national standardsโ€”all aimed at enhancing industry best practices.

When Iโ€™m not immersed in engineering challenges, Iโ€™m a father who loves spending time with my family. I also enjoy outdoor sports and activities, which provide a great balance to my work and allows me to stay grounded and connected to what matters most.

Looking forward, my dream is to contribute to a thriving and inclusive environment through research, development and innovation and to leave a lasting legacy in structural engineering that inspires future generations.
