This guide first presents a background to the moment resisting frames, capacity design, and low damage seismic resisting systems design philosophy, followed by explaining the Sliding Hinge Joint (SHJ) seismic behaviour as well as the advantages of the optimised SHJ in addition to those of the SHJ.
