This lunchtime webinar series brings together HERA’s fire research expertise to share the latest thinking, tools and modelling approaches that can move you beyond compliance and into performance based design. You will get practical guidance on how to simplify calculations, reduce cost and carbon and apply advanced methods where they add real value.

Led by Mayank Shrivastava, the series covers efficient fire design, practical applications with the SPM tool, and advanced modelling methods such as SAFIR and ABAQUS.

Webinar 1: Efficient structural fire design (codes + FaST + HIT)

This session introduces the fundamentals of efficient structural fire design. You’ll learn how to navigate code requirements, explore alternate design solutions, and use HERA’s FaST and HIT tools to simplify calculations. A case study will show how these tools reduce unnecessary fire protection demands without compromising safety.

Webinar 2: Fire design of floors using the SPM tool
Date: 9 February 2026 | Presenter: Fanqin Meng
Focused on practical application, this webinar demonstrates the SPM tool for floor fire design. You’ll see how the slab panel method works, compare it with FEM analysis, and get guidance on when and how to apply SPM effectively. The aim is to provide a straightforward way to deliver safe and efficient floor fire design.

Webinar 3: Advanced structural fire design (SAFIR + ABAQUS + HERA capabilities)

This advanced session covers how to use SAFIR, ABAQUS, and HERA’s in-house modelling expertise to tackle complex fire design challenges.
