Senior Welding Engineer
Metallurgy and Materials Eng, International Welding Engineer, NDT Level 2 (PAUT, UT, RT, MT, PT)
Looking back over my career, I never imagined my work would take me across the world and away from my home country Turkiye. I feel very lucky to have all these experiences in my career and life.
I joined the HERA whānau in 2023!
I’m originally from Turkiye (Turkey) and speak Turkish and a bit of Russian
My additional roles include:
HERA Cert – Lead Assessor
When I was young, I always wanted to be an airline pilot.
Life, however, took me down a different path — and while I may not fly planes, my career has still taken me around the world in a different way!
Now, with over 25 years in the industry, I have worked extensively on the delivery of industrial plant projects globally. This has seen me hold many roles at different levels in the fabrication and construction of boilers, reactors, pressure vessels, structural steels and piping systems of oil & gas, nuclear and thermal power (CCGT and coal fired) plants in Turkiye, Russia, Albania, Libya and Iraq.
For nine years of this time, I also was able to lecture in welding inspection courses at international training organisations in Europe, North Africa, Middle East, Central Asia and South America.
Throughout my career I have always been amazed to see how people can cooperate together to create huge structures and plants. I am very excited to be able to do the same for the projects in New Zealand as part of the team at HERA and to assist in people’s career building through the training offerings we provide here.
When I’m not busy with work, I like to read about history and international relations and politics. In the future I’d love to travel and see as many places I can and experience the many countries and cultures of the world.
